Customer Service Representative, GS-0303-07

This position serves as a Customer Service Representative, responsible for providing technical support assistance to customers with emphasis in customer servicing and/or cancelled check management. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:
Performing ongoing duties or special projects involving segments of much larger projects and collecting pertinent information or data, and identifying obvious trends or customer deviations in standard practices. Reviewing information to determine the nature of the action needed. Offering technical advice or providing answers to a wide variety of routine and non-routine questions. Serving as troubleshooter and resource person for financial areas assigned. Maintaining an awareness of due dates, milestones, and reporting requirements. At the GS-07 level:
Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Specialized experience includes:
Responding to requests from the general public for information; explaining technical matters in understandable, non-technical terms; finding efficient ways to perform routine office tasks and processes; utilizing advanced office automation software functions (e.g., macros, pivot tables) to update or revise existing spreadsheets; and resolving problems.National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience):
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
