As a Lead Accounting Technician, this position provides accounting support for the more complex accounts which may involve a large number of organizations and programs, and/or which require analyses and accounting determinations within a complete accounting system.Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:
Accounting information system programs generate a very wide variety of diverse accounts many of which require control accounts, subdivided accounts, and extensive supporting schedules and analyses. Preparing statements, reports, schedules, and comparative analyses for accounts with extensive supporting schedules, subdivisions, intermediate summaries, and frequent and varied adjustments to balance and reconcile them. Reviewing and analyzing reports/listings, classifies errors, takes corrective action, and verifies corrected copy. Analyzing and preparing recurring and special reports on the causes of adjustment actions, determining the source of processing deficiencies, and recommending corrective procedures. Keeping required work records and runs productions reports and provides input to supervisor on employee performance and training needs, or disciplinary problems. At the GS-08 Level:
Applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 level. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Specialized experience includes:
Distributing and balancing the workload and maintaining awareness of work status, progress, and priorities; Keeping required work records and production reports, instructing employees in specific tasks, and providing on-the-job training when needed; Providing input to the supervisor on employee performance, training needs, and disciplinary problems. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience):
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
