This position's primary purpose is to serve as the principal administrative position to the Division Chief by coordinating all the day-to-day administrative support activities which are typically required to accomplish the work of the division. The incumbent is responsible for compiling figures, maintaining records, compiling reports, and performing procedural work related specifically to the Accounting Operations Division.Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.Typical work assignments include:
Receiving all incoming correspondence directed to the Division Chief. Screening and directing phone calls, monitoring and maintaining the Division Chief's calendar, coordinating all arrangements for meetings, and management of incoming and outgoing correspondence. Collecting accounting, financial and administrative information from all functional areas, maintaining electronic records, preparing routing statistical, graphic and narrative reports. Monitoring and tracking FINCEN Strategic Plan and Acct Ops error queue processing. Reviewing all correspondence for accuracy in spelling, grammatical construction, punctuation, and compliance with applicable regulations. Preparing time and attendance records for the Division and other personnel assigned. GS-7:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-6 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include:
experience performing administrative, clerical and support functions in a technical office setting. Ability to provide an organization with full administrative support in activities such as, procurement, travel, and the preparation of personnel documents, bookkeeping, or other recurring office activities. Knowledge of and skill in using office automation equipment and systems, especially computer programs; a qualified typist is required. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience):
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
