The Technical Support Specialist will be part of a team supporting the Coast Guard?s Security Center (SECCEN). The position will be located in Chesapeake, VA. The Technical Support Specialist shall provide logistic and technical support to the Command Security Officer (CSO) Course Program Office. More specifically, support will focus on, but not be limited to, the CSO certification course held at SECCEN. Additionally, the Technical Support Specialist will provide technical writing support in the development of new, and maintenance of existing, technical manuals and guides.
Technical writing support activities will include composition and revision of various technical documents. Course logistic support will encompass a variety of tasks, including, but not limited to: set-up, break-down, and troubleshooting of classroom equipment; scheduling, acquisition, and maintenance of class rosters; acquisition and maintenance of course syllabi; development of student welcome/information packages; maintenance of student attendance lists; and distribution of in-briefs containing important information for students. Additionally, the Technical Support Specialist will assist with various administrative tasks as needed.
EXPERIENCE
The Technical Support Specialist shall have a minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience (technical support, classroom/training logistics, technical writing, etc.).
SKILLS
Experience composing technical documents (e.g., in-briefs, user manuals).
Experience maintaining course/workshop/conference schedules, rosters, and syllabi.
Experience setting-up and breaking-down classroom/workshop/conference equipment (e.g., laptops, overhead projectors).
Experience providing end-user IT support.
Knowledge of USCG security systems (e.g., EFTS, eQIP) a plus.
Proficient in the following Microsoft applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with senior personnel.
Ability to read and interpret government policy, regulations, and directives and to apply those interpretations fully and legally to all activities described in this SOW.
EDUCATION
The Technical Support Specialist shall have an Associate?s degree in
computer
Science, Communications, or a related field. An additional two years of experience can be substituted for an AA/AS degree.
CLEARANCE REQUIRED
An active Top Secret clearance is required for this position.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
