Brazer / Welder (VA) (2845) with Security Clearance
Amee Bay, LLC a subsidiary of Three Saints Bay, LLC and a Federal Government Contractor industry leader, is seeking an experienced Brazer / Welder to join our Ship Repair Division in Chesapeake, VAWe're looking for a hardworking professional who enjoys meeting challenges and surpassing customer expectations who is looking for a secure and rewarding form of employmentThe ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background and able to qualify to established weld processes for aluminum and steel welds, joints, and will be willing to work on-site as well as onboard US Navy and US Coast Guard vessels to complete jobs for customers on time and on budgetQualified candidates will be expected to:
o Implement and monitor OSHA safety practices.
o Qualify and maintain qualification to established MIG, TIG and other types of welds based on project needs on aluminum, mild steel, stainless steel materials.
o Field install welds, including duct work, equipment foundations, piping, light fixtures, vents, fans, metal sheeting and other parts.
o Select proper fillers for jobs based on previous experience or project instructions.
o Report job progress to the Job Lead, Team Lead or Project Manager and recommends changes as required such as changes in personnel, material, or toolsPosition Requirements:
o United States Citizenship.
o Must be able to pass a background investigation and drug screen as a condition of employment.
o Must be able to acquire and maintain a Secret Security Clearance; candidates currently possessing an Active Secret Clearance are preferred.
o Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent.
o Capable of making sound welds using SMAW, GMAW and GTAW methods.
o Versed in the use of all types of fabrication and testing measuring instruments.
o Ability to learn marine piping systems temperature/pressure parameters.
o Understand joint design requirements and efficiency levels and joint fit-up specifications for fabrication and repair of piping systems and structural elements.
o Understanding of all hot work requirements.
o Basic ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches and drawings.
o Understanding of the requirements for operational and hydrostatic testing of repair or modified ship's piping or structural members.
o Basic understanding of acceptance/rejection criteria and different NDT inspections related to job completion.
o Ability to pass a written workmanship exam.
o Ability to write clear and concise reports.
o Ability to become Competent Person certified.
o Ability to plan and make working recommendations for system configuration changes.
o Ability to use mechanical and digital test equipment, take temperature readings, hand and power tools associated with metallurgy.
