ASL Interpreter | Chesapeake, Virginia

Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1
year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings.

An opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support a school setting in Chesapeake, VA.
This full-time role involves 37.
5 hours per week, spanning the full school year from August 2026 through July 2027.
Candidates will have the chance to engage directly with students and staff, providing essential communication access throughout the academic year.
Key qualifications include:

5 EIPA or VQAS Level II/III certification Previous experience working in schools is preferred Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively support students and educators
Responsibilities:
Facilitate clear communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and classroom teachers, aides, and peers Interpret spoken English to American Sign Language and vice versa in educational settings Assist with classroom instruction and participation to ensure accessibility Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional standards in all interactions This position is offered on a contract-to-hire basis, presenting a pathway for long-term placement.
